Hylunia

Manufacture Nevada recommended that Hylunia participate in its three-month-long ExporTech program to ensure that they were on target to export their skin care products to the most lucrative international markets. Through the program, Manufacture Nevada introduced Hylunia to the U.S. Commercial Service and District Export Council in Las Vegas. It also assigned Hylunia a coach, project manager and an intern from University of Nevada-Las Vegas College of Business to assist the company in preparing their actionable export plan. Hylunia had tremendous results and increased their sales. The company considers its newly-formed yet ongoing relationship with the U.S. Commercial Service an added benefit.

The Client

U.S. Advanced Medical Research, also known as Hylunia, makes skin care products that are free of any known harmful toxins, endocrine disruptors and anti-inflammatory ingredients. The company is located in Henderson, Nevada and has 20 employees.

The Situation

Company leaders at Hylunia were looking to grow sales and expand into high-end resorts and spas around the world. The company was doing its own marketing and seeing mixed results. Hylunia reached out to the Manufacture Nevada, a NIST MEP affiliate, for assistance in developing an export plan that the company could repeat with different international markets.

The Results

Increased sales by 50%

“We have made it our mission to optimize every square inch of this factory to manufacture our machines as fast and as cost effective as possible, which will in the end directly benefit our customers. This Kaizen event that we are putting on here is to unify our manufacturing team, and optimize our fabrication process. We firmly believe that things can always be improved, and that is exactly what this Kaizen event is all about. We have taken our most labor-intensive process of building our 5×10 water tables, and we’ve reorganized, and restructured the flow of materials to reduce our lead times, and make our process more ergonomic. This has taken those lead times from around 4 weeks down to just ten days. This kind of improvement is soon to transition to the rest of our product line, enabling us to get all of our machines out the door faster, and for a better value. We’ve not only improved our 5×10 water table manufacturing process, but we’ve also had a big jump in team morale and communication. This event has opened up communication on all levels, and has allowed even our fabricators to hear what our customers have to say. It has opened up a world of opportunity in terms of aligning our entire company with that of the customers’ needs, and we’ve already seen some of the results.”
